The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma District, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has distributed Nkoko Nkitinkiti (improved local poultry birds) to households in the district under the Government of Ghana’s flagship agricultural intervention programme.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening food security, improving livelihoods, reducing poverty at the grassroots, and minimizing over-dependence on external support through sustainable agriculture.
Speaking at the distribution exercise, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah said the programme was conducted in a fair and transparent manner, stressing that each beneficiary household received fifty (50) birds.
She explained that the intervention is intended to economically empower families and encourage small-scale poultry farming as a reliable source of income.
The DCE called on Ghanaians, particularly beneficiaries, to support the programme devoid of partisan politics, emphasizing that it is a national development initiative meant to improve the lives of citizens.
She further disclosed that the district is yet to receive additional birds for subsequent distribution to further promote local poultry farming in the area.
Hon. Agyemang Asamoah admonished beneficiaries to take proper care of the birds and cautioned them against selling them, urging instead that they work hard to sustain and grow the programme for long-term benefits.
The District Plant and Animal Protection Officer, Mr. Michael Addo, sensitized beneficiaries on proper poultry management and disease prevention.
He urged them to strictly adhere to recommended biosecurity measures to protect the birds from infections and high mortality rates.
He also advised beneficiaries to follow the prescribed vaccination schedules and feeding patterns to ensure the success of the programme.
Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the President John Mahama-led government for fulfilling its campaign promise.
They pledged to work assiduously to ensure the success and sustainability of the programme for the benefit of their households and the district at large.
