Earlier today, the District Chief Executive for the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, re-activated the District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) following the inauguration of the Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
The district risk and disaster management committee is responsible for the planning, Coordinating and responding to disaster within the district with representatives from the Nadmo, ISD, Police service, Fire service, GES and other relevant bodies.
The multi-sectorial committee’s activities include developing preparedness plan, establishing early warnings systems, mobilising resources and Coordinating with other bodies to reduce disaster risks and build community resilience.
The DCE indicated that the committee’s effectiveness will rely on building strong ties with other institutions and the various communities and the effective coordination across different sectors and the local community people.
