The inauguration of the District Child Protection Committee (DCPC) was successfully held on 15th April 2026 at the Atwima Kwanwoma Assembly Hall. The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from local government, social welfare, education, health services, law enforcement Agencies (CHRAG, DOVVSU), community leaders, Traditional Leaders, Religious Leaders and civil society organizations.
The program commenced with an opening prayer, followed by a welcome address delivered by the District Coordinating Director, who stressed the importance of protecting children’s rights and overall well-being. In his remarks, he underscored the growing need for collective action to tackle challenges such as child abuse, neglect, child labor, and early marriage within the district. Members of the committee were then officially introduced and sworn in, affirming their commitment to safeguarding children across the district.
A representative from the Department of Social Welfare provided an overview of the committee’s roles and responsibilities. These include monitoring child protection cases, coordinating interventions, promoting awareness on child rights, and ensuring effective referral systems for vulnerable children.
Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives from partner organizations, who pledged their support toward the success of the committee. They encouraged collaboration, commitment, and proactive engagement in addressing child protection concerns.
